SE Asia offers low acceptance by buyers, firm freight rates / CFR South Asia increases amid increased freight

Asian polypropylene market conditions were mixed on June 5, amid increasing freight and a varied outlook for the near term. The firmer China market last week was weakened by the fluctuations on the futures markets. China domestic PP raffia prices ex-works were down Yuan 70/mt and Yuan 80/mt for the week, at Yuan 7,660/mt. CFR China PP raffia prices were stable at $935/mt, but up $5/mt from the previous week. This week, prices are expected to be higher due to the strength of the domestic market and rising freight. China-based sources stated that rising freight costs, along with other logistical issues, made Chinese PP homopolymer cargoes less attractive on a CFR base.
