India's PVC prices continue to fall despite weak fundamentals / Discussions fail due to weak demand / Ample supply on Indian market: Sources - Aug 05, 2024

PVC prices in India dropped by $40/mt during the week ending July 31, due to a weak monsoon season, ample availability and normalized freight rates. Last week, new August offers of over $900/mt had been announced. However, the announcements may not have attracted customers because discussions are waning. Some traders said that sellers are finding it hard to maintain higher prices in a soft market. Negotiations have been heard at as low as $950/mt. A trader stated that the market fundamentals had weakened and that tradable volumes continued to fall. On an import parity base, a domestic producer kept its price at $880/mt.
