India RPET: Prices drop on lower purchasing levels / Indian government norms to help flakes prices / EU certifications dent export demand for flakes

In the week ending September 25, the Indian R-PET industry weakened, with both the flakes and pellets prices falling amid lower buying levels than the previous week. R-PET clear pellets and R-PET pellets for food grade were stable at $935/mt on Sept. 25, but assessments for both products fell by $5 over the course of the week. In the second half of last year, clear flakes sold for $940-$960/mt. This was lower than the $960/mt offered by trade sources. Buying indications were also lower, at $900-930/mt. A Middle East buyer of clear flake said, "We wouldn't buy over $900/mt as the demand at this time is only supported by regulations and we are purchasing on a need basis."
