Asian RPET: Prices stable as the buy-sell gap increases / PET bale supply in Malaysia and Thailand is tight / Weak export demand and low purchasing for FOB Southeast Asia R-PET

The price of recycled polyethylene terephthalate FOB Southeast Asia was stable during the week ending August 7, despite an increasing bidoffer spread. R-PET clear and premium-grade flake prices were stable for the week, at $820/mt each, and $915/mt respectively. Food-grade RPET pellets remained stable at $1240/mt. The buying indications for R-PET pellets and flakes from sources on the market in the Middle East remained soft or stable compared to the previous week. A Thai recycler stated, "I think the demand in August is low." Despite the high shipping costs and the availability of PET bales in summer, Europe and the US are still wary about buying.
