Asian RPET: Prices Firm on Tight Supply / FOB SE Asia flakes and pellets up $5/mt in a week / Food-grade pellets are facing competition from virgin PET at lower prices

The price of recycled polyethylene terephthalate FOB Southeast Asia increased slightly on August 28th due to a tight supply and the continued strength of SE Asian currencies. R-PET clear and premium-grade flake prices increased by $5/mt over the past week to $850/mt & $945/mt respectively. R-PET food-grade pellets also increased in price by $5/mt over the past week to $1,315/mt. The recycling offers remained stable or firm throughout the week. "[SE Asia] has entered the rainy season and [therefore] the feedstock quantity is low. A European end-user's purchaser said that the offers have been quite expensive lately.
