Asian RPET: Prices are mixed as trade activity resumes / Increase in US demand for RPET / Indonesia's ALBA Tridi ramping up in Q1 - Jan 16, 2025

The prices of Asian recycled polyethylene Terephthalate were mixed during the week ending Jan. 15. While flake prices weakened, pellet prices increased as trade activity returned following the year-end lull. FOB Southeast Asia RPET clear and premium-grade flake prices were unchanged from day to day, but were down $5/mt on a week-over-week basis at $855/mt et $915/mt respectively. Foodgrade pellets, however, rose $5/mt over the same period, at $1,265/mt. Southeast Asian sources reported a stronger US demand from the Midwest and East Coast for R-PET materials. A Thai recycler reported that the US pellet demand was better than before. The European market for Southeast Asian RPET material is still weak.
