Asian RPET: Prices Firm on Tight Supply / FOB SE Asia flakes and pellets up $5/mt in a week / Food-grade pellets are facing competition from virgin PET prices

The price of recycled polyethylene terephthalate FOB Southeast Asia increased slightly on August 28th due to tight supplies and the continued strength of SE Asian currencies. R-PET clear and premium-grade flake prices increased by $5/mt over the past week to $850/mt & $945/mt respectively. R-PET food-grade pellets also increased in price by $5/mt over the past week to $1,315/mt. The recycling offers were stable to firm throughout the week. "[SE Asia] has entered the rainy season and [therefore] feedstock quantities are not healthy." A European end-user's purchaser said that the offers have been quite expensive lately.
