Asian RPET: Prices drop amid slowing export demand / FOB SE Asia, R-PET pellets and flakes are down by $5/mt each week / Raw material feedstock price stability to soften

The price of recycled polyethylene terephthalate pellets and flake on a FOB Southeast Asia base fell in the week ending Nov. 20 due to a drop in demand for exports and competitive virgin PET prices. Sources noted a continued decline in European inquiries, as RecyClass certification is increasingly becoming a requirement of purchasers. An Indonesian recycler stated that "demand has decreased in Europe due to the October regulations regarding RecyClass". Despite this, there were still a few spot deals made for R-PET flakes of premium grade to Antwerp, France and other European countries, although at lower prices.
