Asian RPET: Prices remain stable despite softer demand / Southeast Asian flake and pellet offers remain stable over the past week / Market looks at virgin PET resin as a price direction

FOB Southeast Asia recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate prices were stable both day-to-day and week to week due to a softening of demand, but high feedstock costs. Sources on the market reported that there were ongoing discussions and deals for R-PET pellets and flakes with buyers from Europe, the US and Asia, while the East-West Arbitrage was still open. Trading activity seemed to be less active than previous weeks. A buyer from the Middle East said they were purchasing R-PET flakes because lower freight rates have made R-PET originating in Southeast Asia more viable. R-PET pellet and flake offers are largely stable this week. However, market sources closely monitor virgin PET prices which have dropped below R-PET in the last two months.
