In the week ending Jan 15, the Asian recycled low density plastic market showed a positive trend, mainly due to increased demand in India. On Jan. 15, Asian recycled LDPE film pellets were up $10/mt from the previous week, at $740/mt F.O.B. Southeast Asia. Sources claim that the closure of several polyethylene plants in India has increased demand for both recycled and prime material, as a result of a reduction in supply. Reliance industries Ltd. in India is planning to close its polyethylene factory in Jamnagar in Gujarat for 14 days of routine work in the second half January. A company source confirmed this on Jan. 13.
