Asian Recycled Plastic LDPE: Markets remain stable despite thin trading / Demand appears to be waning / Tight supply drives up prices

In a week of thin trading, the Asian market for recycled low density polyethylene remained stable. Asian recycled low-density polyethylene natural film Pellets were stable for the week at $770/mt F.O.B. Southeast Asia on 29 May. A trader said that the demand for recycled pellets is dropping, and uncertainty about shipping rates makes people uncertain whether to buy now or later. The tight supply was said to have helped keep prices high. Another trader said, "Profitable plastic waste materials are becoming scarcer. Many recyclers struggle to obtain enough material to keep their machines operating." Chemical recycling, especially for PET, PE, and PP, is a fiercely competitive industry as factories scramble to find adequate supplies, often at higher prices.
