Asian Recycled Pet: Prices Mixed amid Freight Challenges / FOB SE Asia flake price drops $10.$15/mt due to lower demand from EU and North America / Increasing FOB India Offers may Erode Arbitrage Opportunities

Prices for recycled polyethylene terephthalate in Southeast Asia fluctuated in the week ending June 19. Demand from East Asia was offset by a decline in inquiries from EU, North America and other regions. RPET clear and premium grade flakes were stable for the day but down $10/mt & $15/mt over the week, at $905/mt & $820/mt respectively. The price of food-grade pellets was stable for the day but increased by $20/mt over the course of the week to $1,250/mt. The high freight costs, as well as the congestion in multiple ports, continue to discourage European and North American buyers from purchasing R-PET pellets and flakes.
