(RPET) prices fell in the week ending March 29. The r-PET clear flakes FOB
Southeast Asia marker was down $30/mt, at $840/mt. Trade sources claimed that
the fall in virgin PET prices and prevailing macroeconomic uncertainties are
limiting demand prospects despite the impending season. One market source said that they are keeping inventories in
order to keep the prices of recycled resin, which we buy, somewhat close to
virgin PET prices. After prices rose to a
year-to-date record of $1,100/mt in February, the virgin PET market has been in
decline. FOB SE Asia PET grade was $15/mt
less in the week ending March 24, at $1,050/mt. This was due to regional trade...
