Asian Recycled Pet: Asian prices mixed amid higher freights /Higher freights deter European buyers /Strong domestic demand supports export opportunities

Recycled PET prices in Southeast Asia were stable toweaker in the week to June 12, as demand from Europe andNorth America weakened, although producers retainedoffer prices.Premium-grade flakes were stable on the day but $5/mt loweron the week at $915/mt June 12, while prices of clear flakes andfood-grade pellets were steady on the day and on the week at$830/mt and $1,230/mt, respectively.Escalated freight charges continue to deter buying appetitefrom Europe and North America for R-PET flakes and pellets, withlower buying indications heard compared to last week. According to market sources SE Asia-Europe freight rates were as high as $6,500-$8,500/FEU. This is up from $3.500-$4,000/FEU back in early May. The supply, however, is still short. FOB India flakes are assessed at $930/mt, up $30/mt from the previous week, amid strong domestic demand....
