Asian Recycled Pet: Flakes drop $10/mt due to slowing export demand / Offers largely stable despite export demand fluctuations / Buyers on guard amid lower virgin PET prices

The prices of recycled polyethylene Terephthalate pellet and flake on an FOB Southeast Asia base were stable to weak in the week ending Dec. 4. This was due to fluctuations in export demand and low virgin PET costs, as well as high bottle bale cost feedstock. The prices of recycled polyethylene-terephthalate clear and premium-grade flakes fell by $10/mt each week, to $865/mt & $925/mt respectively. Food-grade pellets remained stable at $1270/mt. The offers were stable throughout the week. Several recyclers reported an increase in inquiries, but they were not sure if it would translate into actual demand.
