Asian Recycled Pet: Pellets fall $5/mt due to slowing export demand / Export demand weakens amid competitive virgin PET prices / Bottle bale feedstock prices soften in the region - Dec 12, 2024

The price of recycled PET in Asia was stable to low during the week ending Dec. 11 due to a slowdown in exports and persistently lower virgin PET prices. The prices of recycled PET clear and premium-grade flake were unchanged on both the day and the week, at $865/mt et $925/mt respectively. Food-grade pellets, however, were down $5/mt from the previous week to $1,265/mt. Overall, the offers heard were stable to lower. Several recyclers adjusted their selling prices to respond to a declining export demand in Southeast Asia and to easing raw materials costs. According to trade sources the activity is slow, especially to Europe. Export demand has also been weakening as endofyear holidays near.
