The price of recycled polyethylene Terephthalate in Asia was stable during the week ending March 12, based on current discussions. Demand was hindered by the lack of mandates on post-consumer content, since most buyers preferred to buy cheaper virgin material. Export demand was low to Europe, but stable to the US. A trader reported that the US was requesting R-PET pellets, bottle bales, and flakes due to the uncertainty of the US-Mexico relationship. Sources said that mixed blue flakes are more readily available than clear ones, and priced between $20-$40/mt less. FOB Southeast Asia, R-PET clear flake prices are up $20/mt from week to week.
