Asian Recycled Low Density Polyethylene: Prices remain stable on thin trade / Limited purchasing activity / End-users with sufficient inventories

The Asian market for recycled low density polyethylene was stable during the week ending Jan. 28, despite the slow trading that occurred due to holidays in China, Southeast Asia and Japan. Asian recycled LDPE film pellets are up $5/mt from the previous week to $755/mt FOM Southeast Asia on Jan. 28. Trading activity was low as most Chinese market participants were away celebrating the Lunar New Year. The end-users were not in a hurry to buy cargoes as they had enough inventory. Sources continued to monitor possible trade policy developments in the US-China after US President Donald Trump had threatened tariffs on Chinese imports. In the virgin markets LDPE CFR Far East Asia was stable for the week on Jan. 28, despite the holiday season.
