Asian Recycled LLDPE: Weak trading as buyers stay on the sidelines / Virgin LDPE Prices Increase in China / Overall demand for recycled materials remains weak

The Asian low density polyethylene recycling market was quiet in the week ending February 19, as buyers remained on the sidelines. On February 19, the price of Asian recycled LDPE film increased by $10/mt from week to week, reaching $760/mt F.O.B. Southeast Asia. The domestic LDPE market in China has also seen a rise in prices due to the expectation of a tight supply owing to the plant turnarounds both in China and the Middle East. LDPE film CFR Fareast Asia was up $5/mt from the previous week to $1,135/mt in February. Market participants claim that the overall demand for recycled materials is still weak and hasn't increased significantly.
