Asian Recycled LLDPE: Prices fall on low demand / Prices lower due to buyer's preference for premium grades / Scrap supply is still limited

On the back of weak demand, buyers continued to choose prime materials. On Nov. 13, Asian recycled low density Polyethylene natural film Pellets were down $10/mt from the previous week, at $735/mt FOM Southeast Asia. Market sources report that demand is still weak, and there are few buyers due to the end users' preference for prime materials. Without sustainability program support brand owners and converters will not choose recycled materials which are often chemically and mechanically inferior to prime material, a trader stated. As US brand owners try to meet their sustainability commitments, the supply of scrap materials remains tight. One trader, however, said that domestic buying of scrap materials in the US had slowed down. "There's more material available for export, but volume-wise there is still a tight market."...
