Asian Recycled LLDPE: Prices drop amid weak demand / Buyers stay on the sidelines / Scrap supply is tight

In the Asia recycled low density polyethylene market, prices were pushed down by weak demand in the week ending September 11. On Sept. 11, Asian recycled low density polyethylene natural film was down $10/mt from the previous week to $760/mt F.O.B. Southeast Asia. Sources said that the market remained bearish and buyers stayed away from the market. Demand continued to be weak. Many recyclers still struggle to find good quality scrap. An Indonesian recycler, who sources domestic scrap, said that obtaining very high quality is difficult. Prices of LLDPE films remained unchanged in the virgin markets at $970/mt CIF Southeast Asia despite few offers and low trading. Sources said that the buying appetite was still weak, and converters did not rush to purchase cargoes because of sufficient inventories.
