Asian Recycled LLDPE: Stable market as Chinese and Southeast Asia markets return from holidays / Trading continues to be slow this week / Japan Polyethylene is certified to produce PE

After the Lunar New Year holiday in several Asian countries, the Asian recycled low density plastic market was stable during the week ending February 5. The price of Asian recycled LDPE film was stable for the week, at $755/mt F.O.B. Southeast Asia. The possibility of a US-China trade war weighed on sentiments. China imposed tariffs of 10% on US imports, such as crude oil, and 15% on US coal. These tariffs will take effect on February 10. The US tariffs on Chinese imports were 10%. This follows the US tariffs on Chinese imports that went into effect on February 4. Japan Polyethylene announced in a Feb. 5 statement that its Kawasaki polymer plant has been awarded a certificate for International Sustainability and Carbon Certification Plus.
