The trading activity on the Asian recycled low-density polyethylene market increased in the week ending March 5, although prices remained mostly rangebound. Asian recycled LDPE film natural is up $5/mt from last week to $780/mt FOB Southeast Asia on March 5. Sources report that despite the slowdown in demand in China, the virgin market is experiencing a thin trading activity. In India and China, the buying activity has increased. Recycled pellets do not always follow the same price trends as prime materials. A trader stated that the demand for recycled plastics has increased, due to brand owners’ commitment to sustainability and circular economies.
