Asian Recycled LDPE: Stable market for virgin LDPE / Demand is seen as declining amid a slow economic recovery / Sumitomo Japan to mothball LDPE Plant in Chiba

On Oct. 30, the price of Asian recycled low-density polyethylene film pellets was unchanged day over day at $745/mt F.O.B. Southeast Asia, amid a stable market for virgin LDPE. Recycling LDPE also remained unchanged from a week ago. CFR Far East Asia LDPE prices were stable on a day-to-day basis at $960/mt, as of Oct. 30. The spot demand for recycled LDPE was sluggish due to the slow economic recovery. Plastics waste supplies are also limited. Sumitomo chemical, a Japanese company, announced in a press release on October 29 that it plans to shut down its 20,000 mt/year LDPE facility in Chiba, Japan, by the end March 2025.
