The Asian recycled low density polyethylene market trended downwards in the week to Aug. 28 amid weak demand. Asian recycled low density polyethylene natural film pellets down $10/mt on the week at $770/mt FOB Southeast Asia on Aug. 28. Sources said that domestic demand in the US has been picking up on the back of the pressure placed on brands to fulfill sustainability commitments. However, this has not translated into import demand, with recyclers and traders in Asia struggling to close deals for export into the US market. Buying appetite for imports from China and India also continued to be weak with sources not optimistic of demand picking up soon.
