Asian recycled low density polyethylene market declined in the seven days to
May 17 but was stable day on day amid weak demand. Closed-loop mechanical
recycling was possible, mainly for postindustrial recyclate, as it was much
cleaner, sources said. While there has been lot of legislation promoting
recycling demand, enforcement on feedstock supply to boost recycled production
has been lacking, sources said. Lower recycling yields from waste
collection have tightened recycled PE supply, recyclers said. S waste collection
was labor intensive, expensive and harder for recycled polyethylene and
polypropylene products as they are not high value plastics such as MMA, PC,
HIPS or PS, a recycler said. Domestic waste yielded too little good
plastics and more awareness was needed...
