Asia recycled LDPE: Stable amid thin trade / Demand for recycled material mainly voluntary / No clear mandates for recycled adoption

Asia recycled low density polyethylene remained thinly traded amid weak demand on Sept. 24, Asia-based market sources said. Although the grade carrying the Global Recycled Standard was heard to be selling at 20% higher, buyers and sellers said this grade was not traded. A global producer stated that comparing virgin and recycled material is inadequate because the costs of the recycling supply chain differ. Instead, a better comparison would be with other sustainable solutions. Despite steady demand growth, the producer emphasizes the need for legislative and accounting transparency to support further expansion of recycled markets. Many traders, market observers noted that the primary demand for recycled products in Asia has been entirely voluntary.
