polyethylene remained stable from the week ending April 5th, due to thin trade. Sources said that there is
a two-tiered market for grades without and with certifications. Grades that have Global Recycled Standard (ISCC)
certification can fetch prices up to 30% above prime resin. This is because
recycling is bespoke and each customer has different requirements, traders
stated. These buyers said that they are
willing to pay more for quality and certifications or to comply with EU
legislation. Since January 2022, the EU
legislation has imposed a Eur800/mt plastic tax. It also targets 77%
polyethylene Terephthalate bottle collection by 2025 as well as a minimum 25%
