Asian Recycled HDPE: Trends lower amid weak demand / Prices drop on low demand / Supply is stable

In Asia, the recycled high density polyethylene (RHDPE) market declined in the week ending June 12, due to a weakening of demand. R-HDPE natural films were down $10/mt from the previous week at $740/mt FOM Southeast Asia, while R-HDPE blowmolding black pellets remained unchanged at $600/mt FOM Southeast Asia on June 12th. Sources said that the supply of HDPE scrap remained stable while the demand was waning because the summer off-peak period is traditionally the slowest time for the market. One trader spoke of lower prices on the market as suppliers tried to sell their loads. One supplier said that the export demand for HD recycled grades is the lowest of all recycled PE grades.
