Asian Recycled HDPE: Prices remain stable despite unchanged fundamentals / Prices rangebound amid stable supply, demand / Scrap supply for pellets is tight

The market for recycled high-density polyethylene was stable during the week ending March 5, despite unchanged fundamentals in terms of demand and supply. Recycled HDPE film pellets are stable at $765/mt, FOB Southeast Asia on March 5. HDPE blowmolding black pellets are also stable at $575/mt, FOB Southeast Asia. Sources said that the demand was slightly higher as brand owners began to put more emphasis on their recycling commitments. This has yet to translate into significant price changes. The supply of scrap for pellets in mixed colors is still sufficient, but natural color scrap has been tightening. In virgin markets, HDPE CFR Far East Asia remained stable at $885/mt on March 5, while HDPE CFR Southeast Asia & CFR Vietnam were up $10/mt to $950/mt because of tighter supplies from...
