Asian Recycled HDPE: Prices stable on unchanged demand and supply fundamentals / Tight scrap supply supports the price / Demand is still weak

The Asian market for recycled high density polyethylene remained stable in the week ending October 23 due to unchanged fundamentals in demand and supply. The price of recycled low density polyethylene film was stable at $750/mt, FOB Southeast Asia. On Oct. 23, the recycled HDPE black blast molding pellets were also unchanged at $570/mt, FOB Southeast Asia. Sources say that despite a slight upward trend in the previous weeks due to the improved sentiments after the Chinese Golden Week holiday, prices have stabilized in the week leading up to October 23. A trader said, "The Chinese economy is slow and the majority of people do not see improvement in the near future."
