polyethylene fell in the week ending April 19, as recycling costs weighed on
trade. According to
market sources, recycled feedstock prices were lower than prime polymer.
However, recyclers faced cost pressures due to lower yields of good quality
recyclate. Market sources stated that a
significant gap between the input to reprocessing plants and recycled content
in bottles highlighted a shortage of high-quality waste feedstock. A challenge has been the proportion of foodgrade
polyethylene recycled suitable for bottle manufacturing out of total recycled
