Asian Recycled HDPE: Markets End Stable amid Unchanged Fundamentals / Trading thin in SE Asia and China / Virgin material competition caps prices - Feb 20, 2025

In Asia, the high density polyethylene (HDPE) market remained stable during the week ending February 19, despite unchanged fundamentals in terms of demand and supply. On February 19, recycled HDPE black blowmolding and natural film pellets were assessed at the same price as last week, $575/mt. The competition from virgin materials keeps prices down. Fluctuations in crude prices have driven virgin plasticprices lower, causing some companies to prefer virgin materialsover recycled ones," said one trader. This has also led to scrap HDPE material experiencing further price drops because of continuous competition from primeHDPE. Prices for dollar-denominatedcargoes were largely stable across the week amid thin tradingactivity in China.
