Asian Recycled HDPE: Markets remain stable despite unchanged fundamentals / Demand appears to be waning / Tight supply drives up prices

As demand and supply fundamentals remained steady, the Asian market for recycled high density polyethylene remained stable during the week ending May 29. The recycled high-density polyethylene natural film remained stable at $755/mt FOM Southeast Asia for the week, while the recycled HDPE blow molding pellets remained unchanged at $600/mt FOM Southeast Asia on May 29. The demand was slightly weaker, but the tight supply continued to support prices throughout the week. A trader who receives scrap from the US said that April is spring break for Americans, so there are more travelers and less domestic consumption. This has resulted in a significant decrease in the volume of scrap collected from grocery products, such as HDPE juice bottles and milk cartons.
