Asian Recycled HDPE: Prices are trending down during a period of low demand / Prices fall on weak demand at the end of the year / Recyclers struggle to find feedstock

In the week ending Nov. 13, the Asian market for recycled high density polyethylene weakened due to the weak demand at the end of the year. The price of recycled HDPE natural film fell by $5/mt from the previous week to $745/mt at FOB Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, recycled HDPE blow molding pellets also dropped $5/mt in comparison with last week's prices at $565/mt at FOB Southeast Asia. The prices of recycled materials and the demand for them have not changed in recent weeks. A trader said that prime prices are low and offer little incentive for people to use recycled material. He added that many recyclers are having difficulty obtaining feedstock in Vietnam and Thailand and could be forced to close their operations permanently. The prospects for a demand increase...
