The prices of recycled HDPE have been trending downwards due to a weakening demand. Recycling companies are struggling to maintain their profit margins as demand continues to wane. Sources said that the lowering of shipping costs is the only thing that can help to support trading and prices in the short term. According to a source on the market, shipping costs for a 40 foot container from Japan to India have dropped by nearly half since July. A trader said that this could boost sales in the next two week and allow for increased purchasing. The scrap supply is still tight, with recyclers having difficulty obtaining good quality scrap domestically or via imports. HDPE film prices on virgin markets remained unchanged week-on-week at $950/mt CIF Southeast Asia despite thin trading....
