In the week ending Oct. 2, prices remained stable amid unchanged fundamentals of demand and supply in the recycled HDPE market. The Golden Week holidays in China from October 1-7 resulted in a quiet trading environment on the Chinese market. Sources say that despite the Chinese government's announcement of stimulus measures last week to boost the economy, it has had no positive impact on market. Trading in Southeast Asia has remained muted, as recyclers struggle to make a profit and with a limited scrap supply. In Vietnam, recycling plants that depend on imported scrap as feedstocks have difficulty renewing their import licences. In Thailand, recyclers also struggle to import scrap.
