In the week leading up to March 19, Asian recycled high-density polyethylene was stable on thin discussion. Some participants were in the US for a large conference. The supply of scrap for mixed-color pellets is sufficient, but the demand for natural color scrap has increased. Consumers still preferred to use virgin HDPE for easeof use as there were no mandates in Asia.At the same time, new domestic capacity and weak consumerdemand pressured virgin HDPE prices downward, while recycledresin was slower to soften.Conversely, some companies explored the use of plasticcredits as an alternative approach to recycling, as good-qualityfeedstock to be recycled was rare.
