Asian R-PET: Prices soften amid weaker virgin material / PET bale supply remains tight in SE Asia / Pellet Buyers Wary of Falling Virgin PET Prices - Sep 19, 2024

FOB Southeast Asia R-PET prices weakened in the week ending Sept. 18 as a result of deals made amid lower virgin PET prices. R-PET clear flake prices were stable for the day and the week, at $870/mt. Premium-grade clear flake prices dropped $20/mt both on the same day and the following week to $930/mt. R-PET pellets for food grade were priced at $1,320/mt. This was down $10/mt from the previous day, but stable compared to the previous week. R-PET pellets and flakes were being discussed with buyers from Europe, the US and Asia as well as the Middle East. Lower ocean freight rates have opened up East-West arbitrage possibilities.
