Asian R-PET: Flake, pellet export demand weakens / FOB Southeast Asia R-PET Pellets down $10/mt in a week / Thailand's PET bale supply is tightening during the rainy season - Aug 05, 2024

In the week ended July 31, prices for recycled polyethylene terephthalate (FOB Southeast Asia) fell due to weaker export demand. The bid-offer gap is increasing as PET bottle supply in the region tightens. R-PET clear and premium-grade flake prices were stable on the day, but down $5/mt from the previous week. They are now $820/mt apiece and $915/mt respectively. R-PET food-grade pellets, which are sold at $1240/mt, were evaluated as stable for the day. However they fell $10/mt in the past week. The Middle East and Asia market sources reported that the bids and trades for R-PET pellets and flakes were generally lower than the previous week.
