Asian recycled polyethylene terephthalate prices were steady in the week ended Feb. 5 amid volatility in ASEAN currencies, while widening arbitrage to the US saw an uptick in flake inquiries. FOB Southeast Asia R-PET clear flakes and premium-grade flakes unchanged day over day, but down $5/ mt week over week at $850/mt and $910/mt, respectively, Feb. 5, while food-grade pellets were unchanged day over day and week over week at $1,265/mt. Most recyclers retained offer prices, despite fluctuating ASEAN currencies against the greenback. In terms of demand, flake inquiries from the US increased, although buying interest remains lackluster from EU and Asian export markets.
