- Quiet trade continues- Yuan 100-120/mt Local China

Asian butadiene was stable on March 29, as
market participants remained on the sidelines. Due to the bearish
sentiment in downstream markets, particularly synthetic rubber, there was
little demand for spot. However, sellers
chose to wait and see amid lower operations for naphtha-fed steam crackeders
throughout Asia. The local China butadiene
market price dropped Yuan 100/mt per day to Yuan 8,300/mt February 29, or
$1,047/mt based on import parity. The
local China market is lower than the CFR China market. This has also reduced
spot demand for import cargoes based on CFR China. The CFR Japan naphtha benchmark price fell by $2.25/mt on
March 29, to $666.25/mt. The spread price
between naphtha and butadiene was $483.75/mt on March 29, which is higher than
the average breakeven spread of $300-320/mt.
