The price of Asian isomer grade mixed
xylene fell $1/mt on the day from $888.50/mt to $911.50/mt for CFR Unv1; it
remained stable at $913/mt for CFR China, May 23, when offers were made to load
cargoes in June's second half. Paraxylene
prices downstream rose by $10/mt per day, to $979/mt for CFR Unv1/China. This
was in contrast to the drop in MX. The PX-MX differential increased to
$90.50/mt. Prices were slightly higher
upstream. A trader stated that the China
MX market is relatively stable, and "prompt freight is tight". Some
demand comes from the gasoline blending industry. Customs data from May 21 shows that China imported 118.804mt
