PX rises $11/mt amid Rollover / Korea MX exports increase by 48% in April

On May 16, Asian mixed isomer xylene rose $5/mt per day to $934/mt from FOB Korea; $950/mt from CFR Unv1; and $8/mt for $934/mt in CFR China. Downstream paraxylene also increased $11/mt, reaching $1,014/mt, CFR Unv1/China, as assessment laycans rolled forward. As of May 16, the new isomer MX marker consists of the second half of June and the first half of July. PX is rising faster than MX. The PX-MX differential has increased by $6/mt, to $80/mt. Customs data from the week beginning May 13 revealed that South Korea exported 97.758 mt isomer-MX during April. This was down 16.1% compared to March, but up 48.2% compared to last year.
