On May 7, Asian isomer grade mixed xylene dropped $8/mt per day, to $966/mt at FOB Korea; $982/mt at CFR Unv1; and $959/mt in CFR China as the domestic MX price fell. The prices of downstream and upstream markets were also falling, but marginally. For example, paraxylene was down 67 cents to $1,026/mt for CFR Unv1/China. Ex-tank China's assessment of isomer MX for the domestic market was Yuan 26,67/mt less than day-to-day at Yuan 7,673.33/mt or $927.90/mt based on import parity. An end-user in China said that it was more sensible to purchase MX on the domestic market than import, due to the large gap between the domestic and international markets.
