India PVC prices drop due to weak purchasing interest / New January Offers Below 800/mt / Demand falls in the northern region

India's polyvinylchloride market weakened in the week ending Dec. 18 due to a decrease in demand in the northern regions during winter and new offers with lower rates. Sources say that buyers have not shown much interest in $810/mt offers in recent weeks. This led suppliers to reduce their prices to $785/mt due to the weak market. The trader stated that the $810/mt price was not sustainable on the current market due to the lack of clarity regarding regulatory norms such as antidumping duty and BIS Certification. This is keeping buyers at bay, despite the fact that demand in India remains low. India's official date to implement or postpone its quality control order for PVC homopolymers is set for December 24.
