Asian PVC: Prices remain stable amid quiet holiday trading / New Oct offers will be available next week / Typhoon disrupts China’s PVC production - Sep 23, 2024

Asian polyvinyl remained stable at $745/mt FCL China, and $740/mt FCL Southeast Asia on Sept. 18, despite a lack of price discussions in advance of an October offer announcement. Spot discussions also remained limited over the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, with traders in China and Taiwan away from trading. After the holiday break in China, some PVC production and shipment disruptions were reported on Sept. 18, after Typhoon Bebinca struck the East China region. A company source told Sept. 18 that China's Suzhou Plastics Co., Ltd. will restart its 130,000-mt/year Jiangsu PVC plant around early October. The plant had been closed earlier this week, after Typhoon Bebinca struck the East China region. Sources said that the plant had been damaged by Bebinca and closed for repairs.
