Asian EDC/VCM/Chlorine Prices Stable Ahead of New December PVC Offers / China's Wanhua will start a new plant in the second quarter of 2025 / Japan's VCM production down 7% MoM in October

EDC: Ethylene Dichloride was stable from week to week at $280/mt for Far East Asia, and $290/mt for Southeast Asia as of Nov. 21. As the downstream PVC and Vinyl chloride monomer market remained unchanged, there were few discussions on spot prices. Cost-based chlorine price in Northeast Asia was calculated at minus $ 43.70/mt for the week ending Nov. 21. A source from Wanhua Chemical said that the new vinyls factory will be opened in the second quarter 2025. The vinyls facility will be able produce 400,000mt/year EDC, as well as 660,000mt/year VCM and 400,000mt/year PVC.
