On October 16, the price of Asian polyvinyl chloride was reduced due to a weakening demand. Discussions on spot prices were very limited. Sources claim that underlying demand was still weak, despite China's fiscal stimulus announced in early October. Participants awaited the announcement of new offers for November. This could be expected as early as next week. Sources said that some Chinese traders raised their offers, but were met with a strong resistance due to the poor downstream demand. Sources reported that domestic Chinese parcels were equivalent to import parity at around $699/mt for ethylene-based and $674/mt for carbide-based based PVC.
