Prices for Asian ethylene di chloride fell $5/mt in the past week to $295/mt, CFR Far East Asia. The price was $325/mt, CFR Southeast Asia. This is due to a lack of market discussion and a decrease in tradable indicators. A source from the Northeast Asian market commented, "There have been no trades. The market is quiet." The market sentiment has cooled but remained mostly unchanged. This is a reflection of the downstream vinyl chloride monomer markets and polyvinylchloride markets that have yet to respond in a major way to September's first offers for PVC. Data showed that upstream ethylene was stable this week at $880/mt CIF Northeast Asia. The cost to produce VCM using EDC and Ethylene was $636.05/mt.
